Socratic Seminar

The point the most valuable to me during the seminar was discussing about a change deliberately or quickly. This is a very important topic that is used all over the world. A deliberate change last "forever". A quick change falls apart and fades unnoticeable. Meriam Bouaida lead the discussion by giving details and facts, while I defined the difference between a deliberate change and a quick change. In some moments people disagreed and this lead to discussions and debates. Every group dominated their assigned question because they did research on it. Some groups added information about other groups topic. This mainly lead to discussions and debates. Everybody suggests opinions when they figured out the result or the solution. The best part is when the groups were working together to build up to the point. The worst part is when some people went off topic and disturbed the seminar. To improve this seminar, I would try to lead people to think for more opinions and this may lead to new topics. My goal in this seminar was to build an ever lasting tower built with topics, ideas, opinions, debates, and discussions.

Smog from China reaches Western U.S.

On January 20, 2010, a smog of chemicals reached Western America. It is believed that the smog traveled over the Pacific from China. The United States is questioning whether to blame China. The amount of gas increased since 1984 is 29%, not including local vehicles or industries. This problem affect human health and the green house effect. All nations are worrying about the green house affect heating up the world. Mary Nichols states that air pollution keeps traveling around the globe. Fortunately, ground ozone has decreased in major cities because of plans to reduce pollution. The side effects of ground ozone gives asthma and may lead to heart or lung diseases. These diseases causes premature deaths.
