Imperialism

The positives of imperialism outweighed the negatives, but the negatives still remain. U.S. growth of imperialism took part in Europe and Asia. They were trying to take over some parts in China, but there were other wealthy nations that were competing to take over the same land. The land that was conquered belonged to weak and poor nations. In latter 1800s the United States sought to annex foreign lands. By that time period the Monroe Doctrine was declared that U.S. would oppose efforts by any outside power to control a nation in the western Hemisphere. The annexation of Texas and the acquisition of California and other southwestern lands were early steps toward claiming an American empire. One of the positives is if a country is powerful and wealthy it may help improve other countries and share it laws with it. The reason why a powerful nation conquers specific lands is because the significant resources the land contains. Examples would be petroleum, oil, natural gas, minerals, etc. The negatives of imperialism would only affected poor nations that were being conquered. Poor nations that fought for their country were killed. Cultures of poor countries no more exists due to the imperialism. Nowadays imperialism should stop because it's only affecting the world we live in today.
